After losing my boxer of 12 years almost 2 years ago, I watched this video a couple times before I decided on getting a Boston Terrier a few months ago, and I couldn't be more happy with that decision, her names Gizmo haha cause she's a "gremlin" |

Thank you for your reply. Most of my Boston's (over the past 20+ years) have been raised from puppies. Gracie's been with me just over a year. She is really laid back and loves everyone. She will be 5 in August. She has learned a few hand signals; knows, sit, down, in, out, stay; so I think we'll be able to do obedience class in a breeze. I'm going to look for a class close by so we can get started. Wishing you & your Gracie the best, From another Gracie and her Mom. |

Gracie is a "certified" service dog.
The best place to start is to take your BT to a obedience class that uses positive techniques for training. See how she is to train . Make sure your Gracie can handle crowds, dealing with weird people and children. The service dog tasks are taught the same way tricks are. There are people that can help guide you in training your own service dog but it takes commitment. You can find much info on service dogs on Dogster.com in the service dog forum. |

She's great! I have a "Gracie" Boston also. Is she assistance certified or did you teach her as a trick? I use a wheelchair and would be great to train my Gracie. Then she could even fly with me. Any tips? |

@haku8645 It depends on the bloodlines and your particular dog. Some are smarter than others. Of course the older they get, the more wise a dog gets.
Mine have tended to be very smart. Gracie is smart but she is NOT my smartest Boston. |

@craziedogladie I agree to an extent. Our family has had loads of BTs over the years, ever since I was a kid. One of them in particular was an absolute genius. I swear he was probably more intelligent than me. Towards the end we got another one who was much younger. I've found that the 'leader' if you have more than one tends to express intelligence more than the submissive one, who was always an idiot. After the first one died, the second one has matured a lot. |
