Whiny modern boy. Don't even know you are a metrosexual...how sad. I am certainly NOT a homophobe: I am not "afraid of homos" because I "don't understand". Unlike you, I am disgusted by their aberrant behavior. Rottweilers are EXCELLENT dogs. Very intelligent, aggressive as necessary, safe and calm. All this depends upon appropriate training skills, which you OBVIOUSLY lack. Go put your tutu on and crank up "It's Raining Men", and try hard to convince yourself you a a man,you limey fruit. |

I have a male and a female and they behave in the same way as your sisters dogs.
When your daughter goes there and is accepted by the Mastiffs owner as a friend, the dog should stop the defensive show and behave himself.
My male does this but if you just walked past our gate, you'd think he was a total psychopath.
You are right to be carefull though - VERY carefull. |

I'm not modern, I'm a 1970 model - you can't get these any more.
I niether copulate with men, nor do I masturbate any more frequently than any other fully functioning man.
And if I were a Naval man, I would be shit scared to learn that there was a Yank with a gun anywhere near me but honestly couldn't care less about a Taliban in a Zodiac.
Glad to hear you're so knowledgeable - even though you are an aggressive, racist homophobe. Good for you. |

Perfect description of how the two breeds differ !!
Rotty is head strong, like a German Shepherd, and needs a firm hand.
Mastiffs don't. A few hundred years ago, they were the most numerous dog in Britain. They have been here as long as people.
English Mastiffs have always worked and lived very closely with humans, so she is programmed to be receptive of your mood.
The Rotty is a cattle dog, more independent and not so sensitive - loyal to his family but generally not so tuned-in to humans. |

Don't get me wrong. I don't think he's an idiot BECAUSE he's an English mastiff, Just an idiot period. Overly aggressive and no manners whatsoever. I think it's because he hasn't been shown enough attention. Just left outside on a runner most of the time. He seems a little unstable, an unsettled look in his eyes. I worry when my kids go over there because he lunges and growls. They also have a female. Shes great! Excellent dog. Great with kids, very smart. But she drools horribly. |

lol...only a modern puffter UK wanker would consider that "aggressive". Don't be afraid, nancy; it's not as if I'm an Iranian in a row boat taking out 1/2 your navy!
Rottweilers are excellent dogs. Have had them. With appropriate training (just like any dog), they are exceedingly well-mannered. This is a well known fact among knowledgeable people. |

Sorry, the male Mastiff isn't an idiot, he's just the guard dog's guard dog.
Some people think English Mastiffs are somehow a little soft - think again.
The bitches are skittish sometimes and breeders are working on that as we speak. The breed standard has recently been changed to count this as a fault.
Don't be surprised if the most formidable guard dog in history barks at you, mate. |

No, don't get a Rottie over an English Mastiff.
Nothing wrong with that statement.
kenfo0 needs to keep his personal insults to himself, I think.
Overly aggressive you see - just like his mutt. |

There is a big difference between a mastiff and a bullmastiff! That's why some of the negative qualities were purposely bred out of the mastiff when creating the bullmastiff. Like so much drool and the health problems. I have one and she is one of the best dogs I have ever owned. My sister in law next door has English mastiffs. They are much more aggressive and the male is a total idiot. Not hating on the breed, though. Behavior also depends on the amount of attention and socializing they get. |

Don't get a Rotty. If you can live with drool, shedding and a giant in your home, get the English Mastiff - no contest.
Just ask me if you need more convincing. |
