What a beautiful mastiff!! I'm super jealous! He's wonderful with your son, they're amazing giant creatures, so gentle when they've been brought up properly and have a good owner. Have a wonderful life with him!! |

@MijnWet 7:30 to 3:00 isn't too bad if you have two dogs so they can keep eachother company. Alone they would start to have issues. Mastiffs sleep a lot, so as long as they have a buddy to hang out with they would do okay with your schedule. Our mastiffs got along fine with smaller dog breeds, and with cats too. Ours didn't seem to regard cats as true buddies though, at least not enough to keep them company while we were away.
Mastiffs really are the best dogs ever. Good luck :) |

So first I have to get earlier home if I wanted to take care of a Bullmastiff.
My day's are mostly from 07:45 AM till 03:00 PM.
I think that would be far to much to be a "responsible" dog owner. |

@MijnWet , I've had two mastiffs and I'd say they're ok being home alone for a few hours per day. Leaving them alone for more than 5 hours or so is a bit cruel though, since they need to be with their people pretty much all the time.
Mastiffs are not "outside" dogs (no dog really is). If kept outside, constantly away from the family, they will become anti-social and aggressive toward strangers. And with a dog that size, anti-social behavior can become a huge liability.
