These are such magnificent animals. I saw an 8 month old male IW puppy at the dog park today. He already towers over my very tall 113 lb Golden Retriever. Just a big friendly puppy romping around the park. But it is sad that they die so young. One 20 year study of the breed compiled the shocking statistic that their average life span is just six and a half years. Doomed to die young by their huge bodies. What a shame. I wish that greater longevity could be bred into them somehow. |

@4Dancingtrolls My best friend breeds them. She sends them all over the country via Delta Airlines. Wolfhounds are absolutely awesome. Hers have been living to ten years. There's nothing like hearing a bunch of IWs running around. They make noise. Check her dogs out. Sarken Kennels. She's in Tullahoma, TN. |

I always thought you'd have to get a VW bug for these dogs to play with. I read they can take 17' strides. They may not be the quickest moving dogs, but at a full run they can cover a lot of ground in a hurry. I would like to have one myself and may get one in the near future. I have about 2 acres fenced to run in. I just worry about their health and relatively short lifespan. |

i was lucky enough to get a wolfhound mix as a present from a friend. he's so frickin adorable, and hes part wolfhound and german shepherd. cant wait to see what he looks like when he gets older XD. |

And is it true they grow 12 grams an hour when they are still puppy? A Wolfhound owner told me so and said her dog was wailing because growing is painful for them. Is this true? |

Wow!!! Love, love, love them, I've always wanted one since I saw a Wolfhound puppy in our riding school 20 years ago but never had the space. Now we DO have the space but husband does not like the way they look!! Can you believe my unluckyness?? We have a Great Dane , a cross labrador/Rottweiler and will get a Saint Bernard, so house and especially car will be pretty full, but really, I am considering swap hubby against one of these bundels of love... joke! joke!! |

How are these dogs if you have allergies? I'm taking allergy medicine and have a dog that is a mild shedder that I'm fine with, but other dogs really get to me. Great video! |
