man, i want to find a kind of dog that DOESN'T do this. I think all dogs go nuts after a bath!! I know my jack russell sure does. i wish i had a papillon to go with my jack! |

all of our paps do the mad bath dash, but one of them takes it one step further. he throws his body all over the stuff that belongs to the person who washed him. |

My puppy, Mickey, is over six months now. He loves guests coming to the house and would run up to them, putting his paws on them if he could. But man, he backs up anytime they try to touch him.
By the way, how old do they get before they stop growing? At six months, I figure he has a little more to go but not much. I take it his hair continues to grow until he's one or so? |

I suppose they're all different. Max and Sophie love attention from outsiders. They'll weasel their way into laps as quickly as someone sits down. Max backs up the moment someone tries to pick him up, but we figured out this was because he associated the hand gesture with the "jump-up" reflex that starts by backing up. He think he's helping when he does this. After a couple tries, he figures out he needs to stay still, and then he gets his lap :) |

My pap is the same way. Excited and active like a terrier. My pap doesn't let strangers touch him. He would run up to them, sniff them, lick them, wag his tails... but when they reach out their hands to touch him, he would back up. No one can touch him but us. Is this common in papillons or is my dog just weird :) |

Not to my knowledge. Sophie rarely gets that riled up, and she's definitely sturdier than the average papillon. I would be more worried about Max, who is a 4 lb. twig. Luckily, he knows his limitations. |

Isn't it really bad for the dogs legs to land like that? The most common complication with papillon is the tendency toward fluxating patella. |
