They are essentially the same breed the split occurred when JRT owners did not want the breed to become a show dog. Breeders who breed for show go for physical attributes (hence the longer leg standard) sometimes at the expense of the working attributes of the breed. By the way parson and jack russell come from the same person John Russell who was a parson (clergymen). In any event the temperament is the same: crazy fun! |

True, they are called Parson Terriers, not to be confused with Jack Russells, I have both breeds, the JRT has got shorter legs and a longer body. Both cuties though. ~Pat |

Theres no such a thing "parson jack russel terrier". They are two different races: jack russel terrier and parson russel terrier. I have a true parson. Have a look at google or ask a good club. P.S. here in france they consider 2 varieties of same breed, but in the rest of the world is not the same. |

@MissZofiee Parsons have shorter hair, usually super soft hair at the head and neck the rest of the body has short firm hair. Parsons have longer legs and are generally less agressive than the longer hair JRT's. But don't be fooled even a parsons will turn your house into the Indy 500.
Parsons are my favorite out of the JRT Bread. We have 4 kids and the Parsons fits rite in to our busy life style. She sleeps with a differant child every night...and loves to bother my wife at 4 in the morning |

Never let her do these kinda things not unless you want her to ruin everything in your house. Keep her busy and give her a chew toy and not your carpet, slippers and other stuffs you really dont want her to chew on everytime she's bored. Remember that regardless of the breed, a tired dog is a happy and fulfilled dog. =D |

@Deathwysh Very true, although, that puppy is only teething.
It can be very painful.
I would recommend something to chew on from your local pet shop. |
